'The Pledge' vs. 'The Stand'; substantial similarity, anyone?

Should Gov. Patterson appoint me to the Senate, I will use by perch on the Judiciary Committee to ask President Obama's nominee for IP Czar to watch the following two videos, and simply say, "Discuss."

    "I pledge to be a servant to our President."?

    Umm...I thought we were citizens, not subjects in America.

    I'm all for the message of service to our fellow man, but that sentence was creepy.

    As for the IP side of things, I think this would make for a great discussion opener. Can one copyright a style of storytelling? Are visual "beats" analogous to musical notes? Are narrative "beats"?
