Note to documentary makers

Be very, very careful not to depict someone you show on screen as an intravenous-drug-using gay man with HIV/AIDS -- unless you're really, really sure that he is. And don't expect California's anti-SLAPP statute to save you if you're wrong.

    Where did the producers get the footage of Whitaker in the first place?

    The opinion isn't explicit on this point, but it appears that they just went to a public street and shot footage of random people.
