BREAKING: Obama did NOT party with the RIAA

As C&C's editor and publisher was about to retire for the evening last night, he was thrilled to read a post in Ray Beckerman's Recording Industry vs. The People announcing that "one of the inaugural balls attended by the Obamas was hosted by the RIAA." Could it really be true? The brand new President partying at Ibiza with a bunch of label suits, not to mention Rihanna, Leonardo Di Caprio, Cher, Courtney Cox and David Arquette, Roseanna Arquette, Tobey Maguire, and Josh Groban? An excellent opportunity to scout for IP Czar candidates, no doubt, but was it really, truly, true?

Alas, after scouring its network of late-night DC inaugural clubgoers and quizzing his favorite gossipeuse (as well as doing a lot of Googling), C&C now believes Obama did not attend. In fact, word was passed along to C&C HQ by "a recording industry insider who attended the bash" that "Obama was not there. Not at all." Now C&C is an openminded blog and will happily concede error if someone can provide proof that he did in fact attend, but has yet to find a shred of evidence that he did.

UPDATE:  Recording Industry vs. The People graciously confesses error.

If you want to rant about how evil the RIAA and MPAA are, and how entertainment companies' employees and attorneys are bad people, there are plenty of other places for you to go.
